Okay, this is the parliment building, which is on top of the big hill in Tallinn's Vanalinn, which I cannot remember the name for. It is PINK. Isn't that great. I love the top of the hill, lots of great buildings.
The big zoo sign is at the zoo, and it is with all of us exchange kids, at my semi birthday party thing that they had for me. YAY
This is a picture of the Finnish embassy for my lovely friends in Finland. Well, not really this building, but you can sorta see the flag, i really tried, honestly.
Below is my favourite place to sit and read near our Canadian embassy, and it has a beautiful view.

These are my lovely friends from school. I use the term friends loosely because although I like them, I have a little feeling they are just really nice and kind people who put up with me following them. But that is alright, I can live with that. With the scarf is Janika (sp) and on the left is MariAnn (spelling again)

Just pictures today.
Love you all- Elisabeth

Hello all
Tuesday night, and as I was reminded this morning, a month since I came to Estonia and Tallinn, and it seems like I have been here forever, although I still get lost, a lot. Anyway, yesterday I had my pottery class, and I am absolutely hopeless. The teacher who teaches 6 year olds seems concerned as to how little I can do. Besides all of that, it is still really fun, and I hope that I am able to produce something interesting that I can take pictures of to post so you can see part of what I learn this year. Also learned that I start Estonian lessons on Friday, which is great, so I can start learning this language, and understanding more of what is going on around me. Anyway, to answer you Essie, I have completely given up the no meat thing, I wouldnt be eating at all, or worse, only the enormous amount of really good chocolate, but alas, no pork chops, or chops of any sort, the Estonians seem to prefer their meat in small pieces, which is quite alright with me.
Anyway, for today's pictures, you have some Finnish and Estonian graffiti (spelling? i am not sure), the Finnish being the one that is looking out the bus window. I havnt decided which I find more interesting, but for the safe of patriotism, Estonian is better. OK, above those are a sign at the zoo not to stick your hand in the cage or it will be bitten off, and beside that is a WC that I took a picture of in the park because I thought it looked cool. What is more interesting is that today I found out that this WC is a very hot topic, it cost over 1 million krooni, the equivilent of 100 000 CAN. enough said. okay, last is another picture of me, because you all miss me, and you need to see more of me. not. anyway, this is at the sea near my host families summer cottage, which i will put up a picture for later. anyway, that is it for tonight, I am going to write down some estonian phrases that i have just learned in a conversation with the mexican. Love you all, and SEND MAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, had to make a new post becasue when i opened my blog, you could just see james' head, and it creeped me out a bit, so more pictures... YAY.

Okay, to explain the pictures. the first is a building in tampera that is older than canada. i just thought that was interesting.
Next is a picture of arik, gustavo, katie and liis, not necessarially in that order. liis is the girl with the blonde and red hair.
the next picture is of katies host sister, kadi, who is great and amazing and very nice. and has very cool clothes. she was in northern california last year, and she took us to the zoo for a birthday thing for me. it was very kind of her.
Next is gustavo taking pictures of himself. it was his fault these exist, and I will, when i get msn space to work, have all of the set of his up there, plus the comparison with him and the waterbuffalo.
last is meee, silly picture i took with my birthday flowers from my host mom. i will hopefully get pictures of my house and host family, but i am super distractable lately, so it may not happen for a while
lots of love to all of those at home, and I will write some substance later this weekend. Elisabeth

Okay, so more pictures today, but I have been told to explain the pictures below, so the first is of one of the German exchange students in Finland (memory lapse, cannot remember name) on the left, Hannah from Winnipeg in the middle and me on the right. Underneith is a picture in my Calgary house of Essya (in hungary) on the left, Julian in the middle, who is in Montreal at McGill, and Trish, who is in Vancouver. On the bottom is a sideways picture of Juge and Ess, but i liked the picture so you get to see them again. Now for more pictures, some of estonia, some of finland and some of my home in Calgary.

Okay, explainations of these photos, there is a flower from my garden in Calgary. Then there is Raheem, who is going to school in Edmonton, like he should, and I am fairly sure is just holding a pop, no alcohol. Then there is James and Takashi (spelt incorrectly I am sorry) one from canada, (although ontario so we dont really like him) and one from Japan, if you cannot work it out on your own, well i am sorry for you. Then there is my brother, attached to the computer as usual, and finally there is the Brazilian guy, whose name i cannot pronouce, mostly because it starts with a R but it sounds like an H, and I have lost the card, so i cannot spell it. He seems to think it is funny that I say out with a long o. He wouldnt have noticed if it wasnt for Arik and teasing me about it. I will put up a picture of Arik, Gustavo and Katie (though she likes being called Kate) who are my lovely estonian exchange buddies, although we will meet the Brazilian and German exchange students on the Estonian tour, (coming on sept 21st) and the Argentinian girl is coming in January, which seems like a lifetime away. Anyway, I am off now. BYE!!! and love to all.

Oh, did I meantion that this guy came up to me and gave me a leaflet on how I was born so that I could love Christ, and although I was not born Christian I could still be Christian. Intersting right? It wasnt really different than at home. But i have a pretty booklet now.

How exciting is this. Thanks to my good friend Essya (currently in Hungary and you can check out what she is doing at essyainhungary.blogspot.com, mostly so I dont have to explain anymore), I can now make pictures work on my computer. And thanks to my brilliant brain, I can now get the pictures off my camera, which wasnt possible because the computer hates me. Anyway, so now I will have pictures here and at my msn space, because msn space holds them better i feel, so you have to go there. ha.

Anyway, first and second day of school were not really that bad, I have met some nice people, and they all sort realized I had no idea what was going on, at all. French is hopeless, estonian is painful, chemistry i get the diagrams, but i kickass in english class. How unusual... not. anyway, i will finish this later, i have to work out more computer problems

Friday, September 01, 2006

okay, so i forgot something. i am computer inept, so i need something easy for my photos, so i will be putting them on my msn space (http://lisabella42.spaces.live.com/) as well as the occational midnight rant. anyway, that is where it will be, so enjoy that, maybe.

I am so smart. S-M-R-T

Yep, thats right. First day of school, not only do i completely miss the first class, where they tell us all of the rules, and what we are supposed to wear and stuff, but I also missed being called up to the front of the whole class to receive a flower for being a new student. How dumb can one person be. it was really sorta embarrassing afterward, but also in a way, really really funny. In moments in time that show you how you are changing, this is definatly one of them, before all of this, I probably would have freaked out, but now it is just sorta somethign that happened.
Anyway, the day turned out to be pretty cool, after the second class thing, which was about languages, some of the girls came up and introduced themselves, so now i know about 4 names of people who seem genuinly kind, which is a huge relief when you take into account that these are the people who are going to keep me from going crazy over the next year. Boy, they really have no idea what they got themselves into.

anyway, enjoying myself, still, not that i havnt said that for the past three days, but i am, school looks as it should be interesting, as well as time consuming, which is good, as i am down to my last two robert pulman books.

hope everyone is well, kisses for all, and have a good friday. lis
